How to Deal Pai Gow Poker

Pai Gow Poker caters for up five players and a dealer. The object for players is to beat the banker and other players at the table.

Players can make two hands from the seven cards that are dealt.

  1. One high hand with five cards. Also referred to as the back hand or big hand.
  2. One low hand with two cards. Also known as the front hand or small hand.

The idea is for the high hand to be better than the low hand. For example, if the low hand has a pair of threes, then the high hand needs to have a pair of fours or better.

Once everyone has their final hands, the banker will reveal each hand, including their own. There are three possible outcomes.

  1. Players win both hands and their bets.

  1. That is played with 53 cards – a standard deck of cards plus one joker.
